Job Title: General Manager of Latitude South Operations

Position Reports to: Vice President of Operations and Business Development

Pay Classification: Exempt

Education and Experience Requirement:

College degree in a related field (Manufacturing or Engineering preferred). Five years, minimum, experience working in Aerospace or Defense with AS9100 requirements, 10 years managing in a production environment is desired – metal fabrication and machining experience preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Must have experience in managing a business and full cycle execution to ensure that customer and business requirements are met.
  • Knowledge of the economics and the science of managing an integrated operation to include purchasing, prototyping, manufacturing, quality and safety.
  • Strategic planning along with robust goal setting ability to set plant objectives and design plans to meet them, as well as measurement of progress against those goals and objectives.
  • Experience with product transition from one location to another.
  • Knowledge of prototyping and product prove-in processes.
  • Understanding of government contracts.
  • Experience with drop shipments preferred.
  • Solid track record with customer satisfaction.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with mechanical processes including machining, fabrication, stamping, welding and coating.
  • Understanding requirements of and experience with an AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Ability to effectively interface with existing and potential customers to generate additional business.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people in a changing environment and manage production programs with strong operations performance.
  • Proven track record of on-time delivery, quality and cost.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and an ERP type production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing system.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others.
  • Experience with six sigma and 5S is desired.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Physical- ability to travel up to 50% of the time, ability to move about the plant with or without accommodation.
  • Working Hours- fulltime (45+ hrs/week) employment.
  • Personal Traits- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to drive synergy with peers and subordinates to ensure all business needs are prioritized and met, ability to multi-task with conscientious attention to detail and accuracy.

Level of Responsibility and Authority:

Overall responsibility for all Latitude South business operations. This position is expected to work with the Executive Management Team to formulate the vision, set strategic goals, and design and execute a plan of action for Latitude South. Assist in the decision-making process with regards to product that should transition to Tucson from Verona and lead those efforts. Act on behalf of the company when interfacing with existing aerospace and defense customers located in Arizona on technical issues. Lead change efforts, and motivate teams to achieve established goals.  Authority to meet with existing and potential customers to increase business and maintain a good working relationship.  Authority to hire and fire employees subject to Company policies. Authority to approve routine purchase orders and recommend capital additions to Executive Management Team for approval.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the overall operations of the Latitude South business and ensuring it stays aligned with Latitude Corp. priorities, goals and objectives.
  • Work with Executive Management Team to formulate the vision, set strategic goals, and design and execute a plan of action.
  • Meet with customers and potential customers to increase business and maintain a good working relationship.
  • Review financial analysis and make budgetary adjustments as required.
  • Work with Quality Department to ensure quality standards are met and upheld in all manufacturing and overhead departments.
  • Ensure strategic direction, goals and objectives are communicated and flowed down to all of Tucson operations
  • Lead transition of products from Verona to Tucson and support transition of product that transitions from Tucson to Verona
  • Serve as local interface for Aerospace and Defense customers located in Tucson
  • Lead efforts to grow the Tucson operations especially in the areas of Aerospace/Defense.
  • Develop and grow prototyping business to support defense customers located in the Arizona region.
  • Oversee drop shipments to customers in the Arizona region.
  • Participate in audits as a member of the leadership team
  • Ensure Tucson operations achieve and maintains AS9100 D certification in conjunction with Latitude Corp’s quality department.
  • Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Ensure government requirements and regulations are followed.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
