Job Title: Project Manager

Position Reports to: Engineering Manager

Pay Classification: Exempt

Education and Experience Requirement:
College Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 5 years applicable experience in a metal/machining manufacturing environment.

Skills Required:
• Ability to interface with customers and apply customer concepts or blueprints to a manufacturing method or determine manufacturing feasibility.
• Considerable knowledge and experience in metal/machine shop techniques.
• Experienced in using an ERP system, Solidworks modelling software, Word and Excel.
• Ability to read, understand and explain schematics, blueprints and/or technical manuals.
• Possess basic math skills including ability to read and use tape measure, caliper and micrometer to the fraction and decimal.
• Ability to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules.
• Good leadership skills, ability to effectively direct the work of Project Coordinators.
• Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Minimum Job Requirements:
• Physical- Sedentary work, proficient in using a PC keyboard and computer. Occasional time on
• Working Hours- fulltime (45+ hrs/week) employment
• Personal Traits- Excellent communication skills with positive teamwork and safety attitude. Ability to interface and communicate effectively with various department personnel and supervisors. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy while able to multi-task and trouble shoot.
• Display good leadership qualities. Be a role model for all departments and set the standard of productivity, safety, and quality for employees of different levels to follow.

Level of Responsibility and Authority:
Responsible for design of assigned manufacturing processes and maintaining accurate bills of material and routings. Authority to directly discuss with customers or potential customers the manufacturability of products and quotations. Approval authority for manufacturing processes. Authority as granted by Engineering Manager or VP of Operations and Business Development to manage various ad hoc projects and direct the work of project coordinators.

Job Duties:
• Interface with customers and apply customer concepts or blueprints to a manufacturing method or determine manufacturing feasibility.
• Prepare quotations.
• Manage PPAP/FMEA process utilizing APQP methodology.
• Write and maintain bills of material and routings in the manufacturing system.
• Work closely with Engineering Manager and Quality Manager to ensure ISO and continuous improvement objectives and requirements are met.
• Closely work with Engineering Manager to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules for all new products and processes.
• Determine tooling needs and capital requirements vs. ROI, and work with supervisors and vendors to acquire appropriate tools for new or existing products.
• Coordinate the purchase and manufacturing of tooling and fixtures.
• Perform job functions in a safe way and ensure that designed processes are safe.
• Ensure statutory, regulatory and environmental regulations are taken into account and addressed on projects owned.
• Track and document cost and time in new projects using various project tracking tools and software.
• Write work instructions as appropriate.
• Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
• Enter sales orders for projects as directed by Engineering Manager.
• Be willing to work extra hours as needed.
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
