Job Title: Quality Auditor

Position Reports to: Quality Manager

Pay Classification: Exempt

Education and Experience Requirement: 

Bachelor’s degree (BS preferred) with two years’ experience as an internal auditor, or 2-year degree in manufacturing or technology related field with 5 years’ experience as an internal auditor

Skills Required:

  • Certification as an AS9100 Rev C or D Aerospace Experience Auditorin the SAE OASIS database preferred, or possess the ability to certify, including having four years’ experience in the Aerospace industry in the last ten years. CQA preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for quality management systems audits based on AS9100 C or D.
  • Knowledge of the elements that comprise an effective quality management system.
  • Ability to develop an audit scope, audit plans and manager audit team activities.
  • High familiarity with quality control standards, procedures, and applicable codes are essential
  • Experience using quality core tools and creating production documentation.
  • Experience working with internal 2nd and 3rd party AS9100 Rev C or D auditing.
  • Ability to self-manage and set priorities with demonstrated follow-through skills.
  • Exceptional professional presentation, communication (written and verbal), and listening skills
  • Experience in corrective action and disciplined problem solving methodology.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and solving problems promptly
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Have an eye for detail and above-average analytical ability
  • Able to work well with people at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
  • Experience using MRP system.  Epicor preferred.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Physical – time split between walking, standing, and sedentary work.
  • Must be able to use PC Keyboard.
  • Working Hours- fulltime (40+ hrs/week) employment
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including MS Office applications.
  • Proficient in English, also, knowledge of the Spanish language is desired.
  • Display good leadership and teambuilding qualities.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Travel 20%

Level of Responsibility and Authority:

Reports directly to the Quality Compliance Manager. Responsible for coordinating and auditing the requirements of the Company’s Quality Management System based on AS9100/ISO9001. Key focal point for Quality Systems and Process certifications. Work directly with the QMS registrar to maintain compliance.  Perform general duties defined in this document and specifically defined by the Company’s Quality Manager. Develop, implement, and maintain overall Quality programs. Maintain Corrective Action System and complete verification assessments for CAR closure.  Ensure departments have the tools and resources needed to follow quality procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Identify and evaluate all processes in the organization to determine compliance with AS9100, including opportunities for improvement.
  • Audit current controls and performance monitoring elements to assess effectiveness.
  • Audit ongoing processes to assure continued compliance.
  • Create audit reports utilizing analytical skills, technical knowledge, and utilizing excellent written communication skills.
  • Evaluate quality data for trends to identify potential problem areas that need to be audited to prevent quality escapes.
  • Ensure that all audit records and documentation are accurate and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and coworkers regarding audit results, recommendations and corrective actions as required.
  • Work with minimal supervision and able to keep a professional image at all times when interacting with peers, registrars and customers.
  • Present audit reports to top management, as needed.
  • Update and maintain monthly management review slides relevant to the quality management systems activities.
  • Ensure that all information of confidential nature is held in a secure and confidential manner.
  • Perform external audits at suppliers, as required. Assist Process Owners in preparation for customer and external audits.
  • Assist with corrective and preventive actions. Take part in investigation, monitor progress, promote implementation, verify effectiveness, and document results.
  • Perform follow-up audits and validate corrective action effectiveness. Provide constructive feedback.
  • Evaluate findings from audits performed by other quality personnel for validity.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training, as required, for new hires and quality personnel.
  • Coordinates and maintains internal audit schedule and external audit (e.g., registrar) schedule.
  • Develop, revise and coordinate changes to Quality System Procedures and Instructions.
  • Perform follow-up audits and validate corrective action effectiveness.
  • Enforce quality as a culture to ensure that customer expectations are met.
  • Monitor and respond to customer complaints.
  • Work to implement and continually improve use of quality core tools throughout the Company:  Advanced Product and Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Perform and document inspections to support production requirements.
  • Complete customer-required documentation including First Article Inspection Reports, Certificates of Compliance, and Corrective Actions.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
